Thank you for using 12 Carbs! Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

1. Local Storage First

12 Carbs is designed to be an offline-first application. All of your personal health data, food logs, body metrics, and custom foods are stored locally on your device using a secure local database. We do not transmit your personal food logs or health data to our servers. You own your data.

2. Third-Party Services

While we do not collect your personal health data, we use standard third-party services to provide core functionality:

• OpenFoodFacts API: When you scan a barcode or search for a food item, the search query or barcode number is sent securely to the OpenFoodFacts database to retrieve nutritional information. This data is not tied to your personal identity.
• Google AdMob: To support the development of 12 Carbs, we use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may use device identifiers and cookies to serve personalized ads based on your interests and location. Depending on your region (e.g., EEA, UK, California), you will be prompted to provide explicit consent for personalized advertising via the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP).

3. Permissions We Request

• Camera: We request camera access solely for the purpose of scanning product barcodes. Images from your camera are processed locally and are never uploaded to our servers.
• Photo Library: We request photo library access so you can attach images to your custom food entries. These images are saved locally on your device.
• Internet Access: Required to query the OpenFoodFacts database and to load advertisements via Google AdMob.

4. Analytics and Crash Reporting

We do not currently use invasive analytics or crash reporting tools. If this changes in the future to help us fix bugs and improve the app, we will update this Privacy Policy and ensure any collected data is anonymized.

5. Data Deletion

Because your data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it. You can delete all your personal data at any time by simply uninstalling the 12 Carbs application or clearing the app data through your device's system settings.

6. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you within the app. Your continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Privacy Policy.
